Questions
- What counts as a conflict?
- We match on phonetic and visual similarity across the classes your mark covers, not on exact string. That is the same standard an examiner applies, and it is why a straight text search of the register misses most real threats.
- Do I need a registered trademark to use this?
- No. An applied-for mark, or even an unregistered mark you trade under, can be watched. Knowing early matters more when your own position is weaker.
- What do I do when an alert arrives?
- The alert carries the application number, the applicant, the class, the journal issue and the date the opposition window closes. That is what an IP attorney needs to act. We do not file oppositions for you.
- How is this different from Competitor Watch?
- This one is defensive — it watches for filings that threaten a mark you own. Competitor Watch is offensive: it tracks named rivals and tells you what they are filing, which is usually the first public sign of a launch.
